This is a list of all the tutors coming to Watershed in 2012, their dates, course titles and brief descriptions. You can find more examples of their work on the Gallery page and we have included, where possible, website addresses of the tutors so that you can see more examples of their work on line.

* Each course is individually priced but there is a £10 discount if two single days that run concurrently and marked with an asterisk, are booked together. Details for each course are sent out after the booking along with a receipt for the deposit.

We are delighted that Jamel, Hashim's brother, is teaching here again in 2012 – a gifted and inspiring teacher you will receive plenty of one to one tuition. He will be showing you how to create your own unique and dramatic landscape compositions, using colours you perhaps have never thought of? All in a wonderful medium that allows you to create atmosphere and mood with complete ease. You will be using the pastels over a watercolour base.
On the second day we will have a model and take a simple approach to life drawing, including colour, tone and composition, to create dynamic and expressive images.

Roy loves living near the sea in Devon has a natural understanding and love of the sea as a painting subject. He teaches seascapes in a way that he believes naturally links all the various aspects involved to create a representational and passionate Seascape. Roy was voted SAA artist of the year 2000 and 2002, short listed for the Daily Mails "Not the Turner prize" in 2003. On this course you will be taken gently through the process of completing a stunning seascape so you don't need to be too daunted by the subject matter.

We are delighted to welcome this versatile and popular tutor back to Watershed again. She is an accomplished all rounder working in watercolour, water soluble pencils, acrylics, pastel, water based oils and mixed media. We have put these complimentary single days back to back to enable you to enjoy the choice of a one or two day break. Coloured pencils are a friendly, popular and easy to use medium, suitable for all abilities whilst pastel pencils offer the spontaneity and colour of pastels without all the mess! Carole will demonstrate a variety of techniques for both types through step by step exercises you will be able to gain confidence and inspiration.
In the autumn Carole will be covering acrylics which are THE most versatile painting medium, lending themselves readily to many and varied subjects so this should be an inspirational and informative two days! If you are not used to using the medium, Carole will recap on basic techniques whilst demonstrating a wide range of approaches for each particular subject.

Working from photos this is an intensive workshop that involves drawing, masking and watercolour painting. He'll also pass on several hints and tips on the small things that will give your portraits an added accuracy, and a satisfyingly three-dimensional effect. This course is designed to help you interpret different land and seascapes in an impressionist way. Regular demonstrations will show you how to apply and blend the paint and mix colour, with ideas on how to hold and use the brush to interpret nature.

Acrylic inks are an exciting and vibrant medium. They can also produce subtle colours and interesting textures which are ideal for painting scenes, buildings, animals, seascapes, boats or parts of buildings.
