The Sailing Barge Edme - Day Charters

Charters commence from Brightlingsea where passengers are collected by launch and taken to the barge anchored in the river.

After refreshments, the REAL sailing experience begins when sails and anchor are hoisted (tasks the crew is happy to share).

You will be sailing out of the Colne and into the Blackwater Estuary, an area of outstanding natural beauty. On rare occasions, when the sun doesn't shine make sure you bring enough warm and dry clothing (woolly hats may be necessary!) and non slip shoes.

Wind and tide dependent, Edme will anchor for lunch which will consist of a 2 course delicious home made cold buffet with hot or cold drinks.

As you sail back to the river Colne you will have enough time to reflect on the awesome power of an 80ft vessel racing through the water - an experience you will savour for years.

Cost

It costs £62 per person for a day out on the Edme including lunch and refreshments for the day. Or for £620 you can hire the whole barge for twelve people which means effectively that two people get to go free! Alas, increased harbour fees and catering charges have meant an increase on last years’ prices.

These charters are ideal for special family celebrations, (wedding ceremonies not available yet!!), or for groups of friends looking for an alternative activity. Local business people please note - it is also an ideal team building exercise for employees. If you wish to hire the whole barge with no food included the cost is £550.
