Watershed Studio
We have lots of exciting courses and workshops planned throughout this year - we are taking bookings now and whilst we will not be sending out our usual brochure this year if you would like a flyer with all the dates on it do let us know and it can be posted out. You will find all our courses for the year listed below.

Whilst much of 2021 is a carbon copy of 2020 we have put on several additional courses to ring the changes. You will see that many classes are full - this is because we are keeping numbers low until we are completely certain about the lifting of restrictions so it's well worth getting on a waiting list because when we are able class numbers will increase and we'll be going down those lists! cv

We are keeping everything crossed that the rest of 2021 will proceed in the normal smooth way of things without any of the shocks we all experienced last Spring!! We will be continuing with our Covid Secure measures for as long as it takes as we want everyone to continue to feel comfortable and safe whilst they are here.

On our workshop you will be using vitreous glass tiles to make a useful and beautiful pot stand, plaque or even house number, which will last for ever.
You will be able to create your own simple design, or use one of the many templates Sue will bring, using your own choice of colours to make a very individual piece of work.
The day will cover all the basic techniques you will need to carry on with more ambitious projects.

This exciting day with John will cover elements of simplifying drawing to focus upon portraying the character and "feel" of a building study.  In particular you will be exploring how we see subjects and what we include and what we omit to produce quality pieces of work which we feel work for us. John wants to encourage participants to achieve a few of pieces of work with which they can feel pleased whilst allowing individual styles to shine through. John teaches and advocates a loose approach to drawing/watercolour style so be prepared to experiment and maybe draw like never before.

John is largely self-taught and deeply inspired by the landscape and buildings of Coastal Suffolk where he lives and works. He has exhibited in the UK and Channel Islands and sells his work worldwide.

This one-day course will explore how colours can be broken down into their constituent parts, then used to create dynamic watercolour paintings, moving towards a state of abstraction.
The expressive use of colour will be combined with the abandonment of perspective to allow images to emerge from a series of structured exercises.
Expect a little colour theory, a fair bit of 'letting go' and a lot of creativity and an introduction to the work of some of the key ‘modernist’ painters.

Your tutor, Richard Taylor is a very experienced teacher of painting and has always acknowledged the influences of Pablo Picasso, Andre Derain and Paul Klee on his own work.
